Pick up a copy of the History of Gertrude Street and as you stroll down one of Melbourne's great streets, learn about it's past and admire it's ability to bring us all together. 

The book was launched by Rose Chong for the Fitzroy History Society on 24 July 2008 at Dante's Restaurant (on the corner or Napier and Gertrude Streets).

It provides property by property details of the buildings and businesses on Gertrude St, giving a brief overview of their age and previous uses.

Gertrude Street has a rich and diverse history, with many changes occurring from its early days as one of Melbourne's first streets beyond the City of Melbourne boundary, to today.
